In the multitude of counselors there is safety - Proverbs xi. 14

Every year 4th grade students put on a play based on a book called “The Ghost of Plymouth Castle”, which is a mystery spoof on Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Watson. The six part play takes place in the morning, parents and students from other classes were invited to attend.

Part of Lydia Taylor’s curriculum involves learning to master dramatization. She felt the best way to help her students master the English language was to have her students recite lines from the book “The Ghost of Plymouth Castle”, create invitations for parents, create  costumes for each character, and then present to the school their interpretation of the book.  The rewards are amazing and the students feel they have achieved a goal together.

Ms. Lydia Taylor has been involved in the creative arts with her classes for eight years. Her students learn to speak with inflection when reading a character in a book, analyze a scene described by the writer and participate actively in bringing the characters of the book to life. They also learn how to set a stage, work as a team, speak in front of an audience, correctly format an invitation, and most importantly have fun doing it all.
